Anna Marie Arredondo

For over a decade Anna Arredondo has been a dedicated leader of Hispanic and Women’s Diversity efforts for IBM. She has served as the Co-Chair of the IBM Austin Hispanics In Partnership (HIP) Diversity Networking Group. In this role Anna served as IBM Austin HIP’s key representative to IBM Corporate and to the IBM Austin Diversity Council. Anna is responsible for driving the creation of IBM Austin HIP’s strategic plans and leading the successful tactical execution of those plans. Anna has also driven IBM Austin HIP’s participation in fund raising activities for CASA, and Any Baby Can. Anna received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from President Barack H. Obama and President George W. Bush.
In 2007 Anna was elected to the Board of Directors of the Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Key to this election was Anna’s ongoing support of Chamber efforts. She first became involved with the Chamber through La Familia activities. This included arranging for IBM’s donation of La TraduceloAhora software to the Chamber. This year Anna also obtained a significant IBM Technology grant that allowed the Chamber to upgrade their Technology Lab. As a Board Director Anna is guiding Chamber efforts to expand Chamber influence and grow membership, and currently serves as the Chair elect for the GAHCC Education program. In 2011 Anna was recognized for her contributions as Education chair with the Chair's Award for leading the GAHCC Mentorship program at Eastside Memorial High School.
Anna was one of the original leaders to help create the IBM Austin Women’s Exchange (AWE) Diversity Networking Group. During her first year of leadership drove efforts that resulted in a 33% increase in membership. Many of the activities she led were focused on helping women achieve their personal career potential.
Anna began her twenty-five year IBM career as an entry-level administrator while still in high school. She worked her way up to the top of the administrative hierarchy, eventually being promoted to the position of IBM Executive Assistant where she was responsible for providing program and logistical support for IBM Vice President and General Manager level Executives. Anna was promoted again to become Development Service and Support Team Lead for the IBM AIX Operating System Software product. In this role she was responsible for monitoring and reporting Development Service performance to Executive Management. Anna is currently working as a Business Operations Analyst for IBM’s Software Group where she is responsible for expense audit compliance and serves as the Education coordinator for all US SWG employees. During her career at IBM she has received numerous management recognition awards and is a graduate of IBM Austin’s Leadership program.
Anna’s motivation for her involvement in the community is driven by her value of education. “I want to give back to the Hispanic community by encouraging today’s youth to focus on their education. An excellent education is fundamental for all Hispanics and will be the foundation of their future success.”
