The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) is pleased to announce its 2nd Annual GAHCC Capital of Texas Awards on Thursday, September 14, 2010, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at the Hilton Austin Hotel located at 500 East 4th Street.
The goal of the GAHCC Capital of Texas Awards Luncheon is to recognize seven (7) small businesses or organizations on their business accomplishments in their respective fields and in their contribution regarding community service. A nominee’s business leadership, special skills, notable community contributions, and overall achievements are some of the criteria on which nominees will be judged.
A selection process, including members of sponsoring organizations and GAHCC Board Members, will determine three finalists in each category based on the relevance of the materials submitted. Thereafter, the finalist will be posted on our website for the community at large to vote for the most deserving in their respective fields.
GENERAL CRITERIA:
* Must be locally owned and operated
* Nominee need not be a member of the GAHCC
* Can not be affiliated with or part of a national organization or corporation
* Must have 50 or less full time employee
* Must be in business for at least five years, except for the Rising Star, which is three years or less
* GAHCC Board of Directors and Ambassadors may be nominated and/or nominate their small business; however, they may not participate in the selection process
CATEGORIES :
Food & Beverage
Any location where 85% of their revenue is from the sales of food and/or beverage
Healthcare
Any individual or organization that has distinguished themselves by providing healthcare services to underserved communities or has educated the community at large on health related issues
Media
Any media outlet or work that is performed solely for the knowledge of the community at large
Retail
A store-front that purchases goods from manufacturers or wholesalers and sells directly to consumers
Rising Star
A new business or organization that fits the general criteria and has been open for less than 3 years
Services
Any professional or trade service that is performed by a group or individual in which payment is received
Nonprofit
This category is open to any local non-profit that holds a 501(c) 3 tax exemption status
