Changes to Capital Metro service take effect Sunday, January 17.

Fares will change on Monday, January 18.

In an effort to improve the financial sustainability of Capital Metro, the transit authority is implementing a fare increase on Jan. 18, 2010. The fare increase will apply to local and express bus, MetroRail, MetroAccess and RideShare services. Seniors 65 and over, riders with disabilities and Medicare cardholders will continue to ride for free.

      MetroBus Single Ride Adult: $1.00
      MetroBus Day Pass: $2.00

      MetroExpress Single Ride Adult: $2.50
      MetroExpress Day Pass: $5.00

To prepare for its new fares, beginning Dec. 21, Capital Metro is limiting the number of passes sold to two of each type of pass, per person. The restriction applies to passes sold online, at the Capital Metro Transit Store, and at all participating retail outlets. The limit is effective through January 17 for online sales. The last day to purchase passes at retail outlets and the Transit Store will be January 15. Retail outlet and regular online sales limits will resume on Monday, January 18, 2010 (at the new rates).

Passes purchased at the current rates will still be honored after the rates change, provided the pass is valid.
