At this year's Annual Members Meeting; the GAHCC will provide an overview of its 2016 accomplishments and will elect its 2017 Board of Directors.

As the GAHCC bylaws state, all members in attendance will, "be informed by the Board of the status of the GAHCC" and "members of the GAHCC shall meet annually for the purpose of electing Directors".

The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber Foundation is the 501(c)(3) arm of the GAHCC.  Our Foundation's mission is to raise, manage, and distribute funds and resources, whether raised by the Foundation or appropriated by the Foundation, solely in support of GAHCF community initiatives.  Community initiatives include: education, Hispanic Austin Leadership, the GAHCC Start Up Superstars initiative (high school entrepreneurship competition), and health & wellness.  Last year's proceeds from our Let's Win the Future Gala paved the way for our Foundation to launch a $25,000 endowment scholarship fund at Austin Community College.

Start-Up Superstars Finals

Our Education Committee is preparing for their annual Austin High School Startup Superstars competition which will take place between January 5, 2017 and March 9, 2017.  Volunteers are needed to help participating students prepare their business idea, business plan and pitch for the competition to take place at Lanier, Travis, LBJ, Reagan, Akins and Eastside Memorial High Schools on February 24, 2017.  The finals competition between the school winners will be held on March 9, 2017 at Zach Scott Theatre as part of SXSW.edu.  GAHCC Award Recipient Tony Aguilar will be the lead judge at the finals competition. We will be having a happy hour for volunteers on January 5, 2017 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.  Please contact Mary Lou at mlugo(at)gahcc.org if you would like to volunteer for this exciting event!

Come honor final awards and recognition for Hispanic Austin Leadership 2016 graduating class. Presentations will be given in areas of: Civic Engagement, Education, Environmental Sustainability, Financial Stability and Healthcare.

Our HAL initiative is the signature leadership program of the GAHCC. The HAL mission is to provide business leaders and professionals the opportunities to develop business acumen, civic awareness, leadership skills and a network of colleagues for life.  HAL is a nine-month program with educational sessions and Community Impact Projects designed to be participatory in nature.  HAL participants are dedicated to serving their community and are given the opportunity to develop an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the Greater Austin area.
