GAHCC’s Emerging Enterprises Program Inspires Business Growth
Daniel Martinez gains invaluable knowledge and creates stability for his business to succeed

Meet Azcarry “Daniel” Martinez – a graduate of the Emerging Enterprises (EE) program offered by the Hispanic Technology Institute of Austin, a 501 (c) (3) arm of the GAHCC.
Daniel – already a business owner – entered the class at a different level than most EE students. Daniel was seeking guidance to expand and build a stronger foundation for his business, ADM Plumbing Services LLC. His company offers plumbing and construction services for both residential and commercial buildings.
As a certified Master Plumber, Daniel knew the trade, but he lacked the confidence to run a business at a higher level. He explains that EE helped him overcome this fear by introducing him to business and organizational concepts, such as:
• Developing a business plan
• Generating a year-long forecast for his company
• Learning how to build a profit-and-loss report
• Effectively marketing his company
Daniel also learned why it was essential to transform his company from a “Doing Business As” (DBA) to a Limited Liability Company (LLC). The largest advantage in changing his way of doing business is as an LLC, Daniel is able to differentiate his personal assets from business assets – providing more security for himself and his family should he encounter legal or financial liabilities.
Describing his experience at EE, Daniel states, “Mr. Ochoa [EE Program Manager] made me recognize that people have an agenda and I can’t run my business by doing work for free. Now, I walk into business situations with this in mind. My newfound confidence that the incubator inspired has made me more assertive. I now draw up written proposals and get signatures … now my work is based off of documented paperwork instead of handshakes.” Daniel’s new knowledge and confidence has helped create stability for his business.
When asked if he would recommend the EE program to future entrepreneurs, Daniel answered, “Yes, absolutely! Because the knowledge I acquired has made me a better businessman.”
