Val Velasquez

Val Velasquez, an Austinite, graduated from Albert Sidney Johnston High School, now Eastside Memorial. Val is a strong advocate for education and he also understands the importance of giving back to community, especially to our future young leaders. For many years, Val has involved himself with community non-profit organizations promoting education.
He joined the GAHCC in 2009, was nominated to the Education Foundation soon after, and has been actively involved in the annual golf tournaments as chairman for GAHCC. Val was employed at Southwestern Bell Company, now ATT, for thirty years and was in management for 27 of those years. His last assignment was in San Antonio, where he was responsible for the testing of new products and the implementation of those products within the data side of ATT –ASI. Val’s responsibilities extended across thirteen states at the time he retired in December of 2000. While at ATT he attended Dallas Baptist University Distance Learning Center through the Advance Education Employee Program offered by SBC. Now in real estate for over ten years, three years with Casa Blanca Realty, and a small business owner of a property management company he continues to serve the community in which he lives. Val has served as past board member of the Williamson County Appraisal District, a core member of the Williamson County Neighborhood Conference Committee, chairman of the Round Rock Amistad Fiesta and a three term past President for El Amistad of Round Rock. Val is honored and extremely proud to be involved in the EL Amistad organization, an organization that has awarded over one million dollars in scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Austin Metro Area. Val was awarded the GAHCC Volunteer of the year award for 2011 and is now proud to serve as a Board Member for GAHCC.
