      John D. Holmes

      John D. Holmes is the primary legal counselor to Freescale’s business groups, supporting business and technology transactions as well as legal compliance.  He was part of the core legal team that spearheaded Freescale’s separation from Motorola in 2004, the company’s initial public offering in 2004, the leveraged buyout that took the company private in 2006, and the public offering that returned Freescale to the New York Stock Exchange in 2011. John also directs Freescale’s government relations activities.  Prior to joining Freescale in 2000, John practiced law at Thompson & Knight.  John graduated from Austin High School in 1987 before earning both his bachelors and law degrees from Tulane University (B.A. 1991; J.D. 1994).

      A native Austinite, John has been active in the community, serving on the boards of the American Cancer Society and United Way’s Young Leaders Society.  He is presently on the board of Any Baby Can, the board and Executive Committee of the Austin Chamber of Commerce (Co-Chair for State and Federal Advocacy), and the Finance Council of St. Mary Cathedral.  John is a graduate of Leadership Austin’s 2007-2008 Essential Class.
