William Penny

William Penny moved to Austin from New York in November 2004 with his employer Wachovia Bank. He opened the first bank branch in Austin and was the manager for 2 years before moving on to other positions within the company. In 2008 Wells Fargo purchased Wachovia. His current role is Business Banking, Relationship Manager.
He actively volunteers in the community and is a Board member of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Access to Capital Committee, which he helped create as a way to help business get matched with the most appropriate lending source. He also serves on the Site Selection Committee and he is the Chair of the Resource Committee.
He served as a Lieutenant Volunteer Firefighter in a suburb of NYC for 10 years. He was selected by the RVP of Wachovia to be the inaugural President of Wachovia Volunteers! chapter and served for two years. Volunteering at Community Foundations Tax Centers has been one of his favorite and most rewarding activities, preparing tax returns for those who have limited resources and access to a professional preparer. The words probably used by clients and friends to best describe Will are energetic and loyal.
Will’s mother was born and raised in Santiago de Cuba and she came to the US when she was 16. He has been married for 14 years to a woman from Costa Rica and they have 2 children. Will is an avid Ford, Mustang fan and has a 1969 Mach 1.
