Felix Medina Alvarez III is a native of San Antonio who holds a bachelor’s of science degree from Southwest Texas State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Felix relocated in January of 2017 to accept the position of Assistant Vice President of the Offices of Procurement, Business Contracts, Payment Services, and the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) and Small Business (SB) Program.

Prior to coming to Austin, Felix was the executive director of procurement at the University Health System in San Antonio since 2013 where he managed centralized procurement, contract administration, and sourcing operations, equipment and commodities as the chief procurement and contracting officer. Before his role at University Health System, he was the senior director of procurement and supplier diversity with the North Texas Tollway Authority in Plano where he successfully led efforts to streamline business processes and implement cost-savings initiatives and best practices. Felix’s background also includes working with the San Antonio Independent School District and the City of San Antonio as a contracts administrator and contracts officer, respectively.
