Vanessa Fuentes

Vanessa Fuentes is the Senior Director of Grassroots Advocacy for the American Heart Association – SouthWest Affiliate. In this role, she supervises volunteer recruitment and engagement activities for over 30,000 Texas volunteer advocates, as well as manages grassroots advocacy strategy in six states including Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, and Wyoming. Prior to joining the American Heart Association, Vanessa worked as a committee director at the Texas State Capitol and has experience in political campaigns and local public affairs.

Vanessa is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and has lived in Austin for the past 10 years. She is an active member of the community and serves as PresidentElect of the Young Women’s Alliance, State Representative for the State Board of Directors for Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas, and is an active member of the Junior League of Austin. Vanessa was recently recognized as a Distinguished Young Leader by the Young Hispanic Professionals Association of Austin and received the Outstanding Excellence in Advocacy award by the American Heart Association. Recently, Vanessa chaired the Austin Under 40 Awards recognizing top young professionals and raising funds for the Austin Sunshine Camps and Young Women’s Alliance Foundation.
