David Cripe, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas

David has over 26 years of experience in the healthcare industry.  That time includes 6 years with United Healthcare, 17 years with Seton Healthcare Family, and 3 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.   Previous experience covers a wide range of positions including claims, appeals, billing, collections, contracting/negotiation, hospital strategy, pricing, Medicare, Medicaid, Fully Insured and ASO business. David currently has responsibility for the development, implementation and management of new and existing provider networks in the Southwest region for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.  This territory encompasses 106 counties and has a total population of 6.8 million, where 1.5 million of those are BCBSTX members.  David sits on the Board of Directors for the Texas eHealth Alliance, previously served as Vice Chair of the Texas Hospital Association’s Policy Committee on Managed Care and on the Texas Department of Insurance Health Network Adequacy Advisory Committee. David recently graduated America’s Health Insurance Plans Executive Leadership Program and has earned the distinction of Certified Healthcare Insurance Executive (CHIE).  David graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Government and has a MBA with a specialization in Health Care Management from Capella University.   David is married to Sally Cripe and they have two children, Jacob, 20, who is studying business at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Dana, 17, who plays for the varsity soccer team at Cedar Park High School.
