Communications & Events Coordinator
Kathie Rojas joined the GAHCC team as the Communications and Events Coordinator in early January after graduating from St. Edward’s University in December of 2019. In this position, she writes GAHCC newsletters, monitors and maintains GAHCC’s social platforms, and helps execute major and minor communications between members, staff, and partners. As an undergraduate student, Kathie studied Writing & Rhetoric with a focus in Professional Writing and a minor in Spanish Language
While at St. Edward’s, Kathie wrote and edited for various university affiliated publications. Kathie ventured into community work after attending KIPP Truth Academy in Dallas, TX. While at KIPP, Kathie learned the importance of persistence, education, and community. She interned for the KIPP Truth Development Team and then later for Mission Possible Kids, a nonprofit that empowers youth to be “agents of change”.
Kathie enjoys writing, reading, and attending shows in Austin. Kathie champions the triumph of minority communities, and aims to be a lifelong advocate of diversity and equality as she continues her education in pursuit of an interdisciplinary law degree.
