Texas Gas Service

Carmen Luevanos is a community relations manager for Texas Gas Service, a natural gas distributor. She assists with Austin area regulatory affairs and oversees local community investments in the company’s east region, which spans north to Weatherford and south to Gonzales. Carmen also facilitates applications by nonprofit groups to the ONE Gas Foundation, associated with parent corporation, ONE Gas based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Carmen leadership journey began with Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (GAHCC) Hispanic Austin Leadership program, Class of 2013.  Nearly a decade later, she is a member of Austin Area Research Organization’s (AARO) McBee Fellow Program, Class of 2022.

Carmen’s interest in economic development, public policy initiatives that support local businesses, and equity for minority/women owned businesses have led to her GAHCC board service.

Her board service also includes:  Austin Leadership; Austin Monitor; Barton Springs Conservancy; and ZACH Theatre.

Carmen’s professional experiences include public sector media relations at various Texas state agencies, and locally at Austin Independent School District. 

She received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Trinity University in San Antonio and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas Austin.
