Austin Proposition F, the eliminate city manager and establish mayor-council government measure, is on the ballot as an initiative in Austin on May 1, 2021.

Position: Against Proposition F.

Statement:

The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce opposes Proposition F. The proposed amendment of Austin's current and collaborative "Council-Manager" charter to the "Strong Mayor" form of government, will eliminate the role of City Manager, allow the Mayor veto power over City Council-approved legislation and consolidate the Mayor's power and oversight of the City’s priorities, progress and future initiatives. The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce believes these efforts will negatively impact the necessary revitalization and recovery of the Austin business community and the City’s economy.
