Veronica Hinojosa-Segura, Immediate Past Chair

Veronica Hinojosa Segura is a corporate board member and a senior finance executive with over 30 years of experience in Fortune 500 companies, state government entities, non-profit healthcare, and higher education. Veronica’s diverse career demonstrates a solid track record in leading change management and digital transformational strategic operations in highly regulated and complex public business environments. She serves as a corporate board member and she brings a strong servant leadership style through her roles in various community non-profit Boards.  She serves on corporate audit & compliance and nominating & governance committees and has served as a key member of audit & finance and fund development.

Currently, Ms. Hinojosa Segura is the Associate Vice Chancellor & Controller for one of the largest university systems in the nation, the University of Texas System. Under her leadership, Veronica has executive oversight and financial reporting responsibilities for 14 health and academic institutions with a consolidated net position of $45B, an investment portfolio of $54B, and an operating budget of $20B.  In her short tenure, Veronica has been recognized for implementing innovative digital transformational corporate best practices within an academic business environment.  She re-engineered her organizational structure by creating centers of excellence which reduced cycle times, generated timely financial reporting, and implemented innovative solutions. She was also selected by the Chancellor to serve on an institution wide executive team responsible for implementing a cutting-edge enterprise risk management plan. 

Veronica is an active leader of several nonprofit boards. She is currently the 2021 chair for the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she serves on Health Care Service Corp (HCSC) board, is an executive member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association, and is affiliated with several professional and industry associations. She is passionate about mentoring and being a role model to aspiring Latina leaders.  

Veronica enjoys giving back to the community and as a graduate of HAL, she has served as the Chair of Con Mi Madre, co-chair of the St. Andrews Parent Diversity Council, Soccer Assist Board Member, and as a Board member and Treasurer of the Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Veronica is married to Steve Segura and they have a son Isaac.
