President and CEO Diana Maldonado speaks at Panama-Texas Business Summit

The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) President and CEO Diana Maldonado delivered a speech at the inaugural Panama-Texas Business Summit, Monday, July 26, 2021.

The 2021 Panama-Texas Business Summit served as a convention for business and industry leaders from Texas and Panama. The objective of the summit was to strengthen already long-standing and strong business connections and facilitate commercial exchange between private businesses. Industries the summit highlighted included: 

  • Agriculture

  • Banking and Investment

  • Specialty Coffee

  • Construction and Infrastructure

  • Clean Energy

  • Food and Beverage

  • Real Estate

  • Ports & Maritime Services

  • Technology

  • Tourism

Representing the GAHCC delegation, President Maldonado served as one of two decorated keynote speakers during the lunch session on day one of the summit. President Maldonado joined Former Ambassador Juan B. Sosa in providing remarks during the event lunch. 

During her speech, President Maldonado welcomed summit attendees to the City of Austin, highlighted the strength of the Texas economy and Latino demographics, while further highlighting the vital role of Panama in connecting the world through the Panama Canal. Maldonado further spoke to Panamanian resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic and how Panama, …”continues to inspire development, foster important connections, and most importantly inspire progress.”

Post event luncheon, GAHCC delegates engaged in a bilateral meeting with members of the Panama Chamber of Commerce, during which avenues to grow Panama-Texas relations and opportunities for collaboration in fields such as technology and manufacturing were discussed.
